They have had their bark removed by hand to showcase the natural live edge. Each board is unique from the other even from the same tree or slab.

Wood is kiln dried and sourced from local arborists. We understand and value the role trees play in a balanced environment. We believe we have a responsibility to be responsible stewards of our local resources. These trees have fallen victim to disease, weather or some other natural occurrence.

From that slab we hand work the slab into individual pieces and the journey begins. The boards undergo multiple stages of sanding and are then hand rubbed with a blend of coconut oil, mineral oil, vitamin-E and beeswax to bring out the grain and luster of each board. Each board has some irregularities but they should not interfere with its intended use. If you like nature and uniqueness than perhaps these boards are for you. We use food safe glues, epoxies and finishing oils.

Boards are roughly 10.5"w x 19.75"l x 1.75d. Each board has non-skid feet installed. We use Walrus Oil & Wood Wax to finish all of our cutting & charcuterie boards.

It's an easy one step process & brings out the beautiful grain of each board while providing a durable finish. They also are environmentally conscious, aligning themselves with the National Forest Foundation 501(c)3 as well as 1% For The Planet 501(c)3. They also have an undertaken a enormous challenge/goal of planting 10,000 trees before 2021 hopefully making woodworking a sustainable hobby or career.

Walrus products are FDA compliant & safe for food contact. All boards are manufactured in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
