Vintage Artisan Handcrafted Ixel Necklace With Matching Pierced Earrings
Vintage IXEL (a queen of the Mayas) Made in Mexico. This is a magnificent example of the artisans of colonial Mexico. The necklace is 10.5" long and post back earrings 3" x.
This "statement" necklace and earrings are gold/brass toned in color with beautiful micro welding design on the sides with a Mayan, pre-Columbian carved head in onyx or hematite and a matching carved heads on the earrings. These pieces are highly polished and shows a rich luster. This item is stamped IXEL and comes from colonial Mexico from San Miguel de Allende. This piece is a magnificent example of Mexican artisans carefully crafting a beautiful necklace utilizing primarily rose brass alloy; this process involves micro-welding.
